Duncan Sinclair was one of the founding directors of Redpoint Energy, and since the merger with Baringa Partners is a partner in the Energy Advisory Services practice. He has 18 years of experience of advising energy companies, banks, regulators and government on a broad range of issues relating to the competitive electricity, gas and carbon markets in Europe.
Duncan has led Redpoint's work with the UK's Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) since 2006 on future investment in the generation sector, including for the 2010 Electricity Market Reform consultation. He also advised DECC on the different options for rolling out smart meters. He has advised the GB gas and electricity regulator, Ofgem, in issues relating to the gas and electricity trading arrangements and competition since 2007, and worked extensively with the regulator during Project Discovery, its fundamental review of the prospects for secure and sustainable energy supplies. He has recently advised The Crown Estate on its recent UK Offshore Wind Market Study, network businesses on innovation, and National Grid in its role as EMR Delivery Agent.
Duncan has also advised a number of leading energy companies on issues relating to regulation, market reform, risk management, individual transactions and investment strategy across Europe.
Duncan's key areas of specialism include: energy policy and regulation; market design and trading arrangements; investment strategy; and energy trading and risk management.
Duncan is married to Neus and has three bilingual English-Catalan boys. He spends much of his free-time involved in various sporting activities with his sons, and trying to learn the piano in rare quiet moments.
