Ilesh is a Partner in Baringa's Energy Advisory Services practice and has 15 years' experience in advising utilities, regulators and government, investors and lenders on strategy, regulatory and commercial issues. In particular, he has been instrumental in transforming power and gas markets in Europe since the 1990s, advising regulators and government, including energy ministers, on liberalisation and privatisation, energy policy, market reform and design and transmission network regulation. He has also advised on the post privatisation contracts in place in GB, Northern Ireland and elsewhere in Europe and contract and commercial disputes and has been called on as an expert witness.
Recently, he has led our work on UK and European transmission investment and networks, electricity and gas interconnectors, offshore and onshore renewables development and market coupling and integration across the EU. Ilesh has been an advisor for high profile power and gas asset transactions and private equity/institutional investors in the UK, Ireland, Spain, Germany, Netherlands, Scandinavia and Italy. His specialisms include infrastructure investment strategy and development, market entry, investment valuation and due diligence, regulatory and policy advice, trading and risk strategies, contracts and commercial arrangements and business models.
Ilesh has first class degree in PPE from the University of Oxford and has an active interest in behavioural economics. He lives in London with his wife and their two young boys who keep them both fit. He particularly enjoys watching (no longer playing!) cricket, is getting used to the children's birthday party circuit and has an enviable collection of energy related art!
