2022

Baringa becomes a B-Corp

In May 2022, we became the largest company in our sector in the world to be awarded B-Corp status, joining a global movement of businesses who believe that our most challenging global problems cannot be solved by governments and non-profits alone. By joining the B-Corp Movement, we have committed to positively impact all of our stakeholders – our clients, our people, our communities and our planet.

Celebrating 22 years of Baringa through volunteering

September 2022 saw our biggest annual large-scale volunteering event in Baringa History. Over 700 employees engaging with more than 40 organisations to give back to our communities and the environment.

Work Placement Alumni Launch

Our work placement programme was launched during COVID-19 in 2020 and has grown significantly since then. To ensure that we are making an impact that lasts, we launched a community for the programme alumni to keep in regular contact with Baringa, so that we can continue to support them on their career journey.

Carbon neutral

Baringa reviewed offsetting strategy to include all company scopes 1, 2 & 3 emissions and prioritise Gold Standard offsets contributing to multiple UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Company wide CSR day to celebrate our 21st Birthday

To celebrate our 21st Birthday 560 consultants from our London and New York offices took time to give back to our communities and to protect the environment. This included helping to conserve 1,500 football fields of green space, sharing skills with 38 youth centres and mapping 7,500 buildings in rural Bangladesh to support flood planning and relief efforts.

Committing to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2030 across scopes 1, 2 & 3. Our priority is to first reduce emissions and then offset any remainder using carbon removal projects.

Pro-bono support for COP26 Rapid Response Facility

Providing support to individual developing countries to facilitate the technical, economic and social aspects of the transition to low cost, low carbon, inclusive and resilient power systems.

Low Carbon Capital advisory business reaches major milestone

Over the last 5 years, we have advised on the allocation of over £150bn of capital into over 150GW of renewable energy capacity.

Baseline Scopes 1,2 & 3 GHG emissions

We measured and baselined all material emissions categories for all our geographies in line with the GHG Protocol.

Our gross emissions have fallen whilst our employee numbers have grown

Energy 4 Impact

In 2017 Baringa supported Energy 4 Impact in developing the economic and financial modelling tools they needed to better support local businesses extend access to energy in off-grid communities in sub-Saharan Africa. Through working directly with the Energy4Impact team we were able to improve the quality of service provided and support the growth of clean energy markets to improve livelihoods and accelerate economic growth.

Save the Children

In a multi-year project starting in 2018 Baringa has worked with Save the Children to dramatically improve their supply chain efficiency and effectiveness ensuring vital charitable aid can continue to be delivered to children across the globe. Save the Children promotes children’s rights, provides relief and supports children in developing countries and Baringa’s support has helped to keep operational costs down ensuring the charity can continue to do what they do best.

Student Minds

In 2020/2021 Baringa supported Student Minds, the UKs only student mental health charity, to develop and launch a digital platform to support university students in accessing mental health services and support during the COVID19 pandemic. Student Minds work with over 100 universities across the UK and has been able to provide additional support to thousands of students through the Student Space portal

In 2020 Baringa teamed up with one of our charity partners, Drive Forward Foundation, to help identify potential strategic partners that could help in a challenging post-Covid-19 economic recovery to improve young people gain meaningful employment.
