What job would you be doing in another life?
I would be a Formula 1 Engineer. I really enjoyed my internship in the R&D department of a car manufacturer back in 2006.
In detail:
Gerardo’s early curiosity to understand basic electricity and mechanics systems motivated him to study engineering. Since graduating at the prestigious Pontifical Comillas University, ICAI, Gerardo has sought to fulfil a personal and professional goal of contributing to the biggest challenge humanity with face in the century: Decarbonisation.
During his professional career, Gerardo has advised corporates, financial investors, IPPs and developers on strategy, commercial, and transaction assessments. Gerardo has supported clients on decisions to deploy capital, finance assets, and manage their portfolios, navigating the uncertainty that the energy transition brings to their businesses, with more integration and convergence across technologies, industries, and business models. Gerardo joined Baringa in 2024, as an Energy and Resources partner to support the firm’s growth in Spain and Portugal, countries with decarbonisation at the top of their agenda.
Gerardo enjoys guiding passionate energy professionals to provide outstanding advice to clients, building long lasting relationships of trust and friendship while contributing to climate change through pragmatic and actionable approaches.
Outside of work, Gerardo loves playing with his kids, as well as travelling to his hometown Cádiz, in the south of Spain when possible. Gerardo enjoys practicing sports (such as cycling, working out in the gym, or skiing during the winter), as well as tasting the culinary variety offered by Madrid’s restaurants
