In detail:
A management consultant for his whole working life, Guy brings huge breadth of experience to his role leading Baringa’s regulatory compliance team. There are three things he focuses on: he helps his clients understand and implement new regulatory change, he optimises their compliance functions across various regulations, and he helps with remediation when something goes wrong.
Guy caught the consultancy bug when he interned at one of the global professional services firms during his time studying Business Economics and Finance at Loughborough. What he loves is learning about different clients, their sectors and their challenges, thinking of solutions, putting a plan in place and delivering against that plan. Finding hidden improvement potential, like he and his team did when they mapped all processes of a global investment bank. And getting his clients to a better place, while contributing to their growth and success.
One of his proudest moments over 15 years at Baringa is related to working with a large UK universal bank after they had suffered a huge regulatory fine due a breach of CASS regulations. Guy showed them how to fix the issue, futureproofed them against more fines, and let them own the solution going forwards. This led to savings for the bank and was the beginning of a long-term partnership between the bank and Baringa.
His favourite clients, though, are his three boys. Whether they need ferrying from swimming lessons to tennis lessons, or out to the woods to ride bikes, play in the mud and spend time together. He also loves travelling, with a special fondness for Cape Town, where he did a forever memorable, but one-time-only, skydive and climbed Lion’s Head to watch the sunset. Guy definitely recommends taking a torch for getting down.
