Nichola Plower

Nichola is proud to be the longest-serving woman at Baringa. Joining as an entry level advisor in 2004, Nichola now leads our digital renewables team having grown her career in step with Baringa’s own growth. She cut her teeth in energy trading, working with global trading houses to install trading platforms. She knows energy markets inside out and is perfectly placed to guide clients on ups and downs of the energy transition to 2030 and beyond. Over the course of her career, she’s forged strong relationships with the world’s largest energy companies, including EDF, Shell and BP.   

Nichola has always been a trailblazer, willing to venture across the globe to expand Baringa’s reach. She was our first advisor to work on trading projects in Singapore and Houston, places that are now at the heart of our international growth strategy. She works across the entire energy value chain from production to consumption, helping clients to understand how changing demands from both regulators and consumers will impact their businesses, and what capabilities they need to develop in response. With such dramatic change underway, Nichola guides clients on how to transition efficiently and cost-effectively while keeping pace with consumer pressure for value.  

Nichola loves coaching and mentoring, always looking to bring out the best in others. She encourages colleagues to grow and gives them the space and the means to do so, in ways that feel right for them. She’s unashamedly geeky and is inspired by every new project. While she’s always worked in the same industry, the problems she’s posed and the solutions she finds are never the same. There’s always room to learn. During projects she fosters environments in which everyone feels comfortable to speak openly and honestly, believing this is the quickest route to getting to the root of thorny problems. 

Nichola is married with a daughter and loves exploring seaside destinations with her family - from the rugged east coast of Ireland to the white sand beaches of Barbados. At home, she’s just completed a redesign of her garden – a bigger challenge than expected! She’s also something of a star baker, whipping up allergy-free delights for her daughter.
