"With the demands on the state likely to increase in the years ahead and the resource environment likely to remain constrained, public sector leaders will need to reimagine the process of government if they wish to rapidly improve outcomes for citizens. By distilling policy intent into a common purpose that flows from senior policy officials to operational leads, they can coalesce around long-term outcomes and quickly move beyond the traditional linear process of policy-strategy-delivery."

What job would you be doing in another life
Either a cricketer or a jazz pianist but I would need considerably more talent in either of these than this life has provided me!

In detail:

Tom joined Baringa in 2023 after concluding his Masters at the London School of Economics where he studied Development Economics. He previously worked in consulting in the Big Four leading projects across central and local Government. He has worked on many of the Government’s most challenging policy areas including asylum, homelessness, trade and regulation.

Tom specialises in helping Government distil policy intent into purpose-driven transformations. He is passionate about helping clients execute on their policy agenda, by working with them to reimagine, redesign and then deliver improved government services that lead to better outcomes for citizens. He is particularly proud of working with the UK’s Ministry of Housing and trailblazing Local Authorities, where his team helped manage demand for homelessness services, ensuring interventions could take place earlier, before vulnerable people reached a crisis point.

Tom is known for his energy and drive, determined to deliver tangible outcomes for his clients and ultimately for UK citizens. He also believes that you don’t have to be serious to do serious work and is determined to make the process interesting as well as fun for all involved.

Outside of work, Tom splits his time between music and travelling. There was a time where his summers would include long stints on his trusty camp bed at music festivals, but he will admit that his tastes may have evolved a little over the last few years. He is happiest when able to combine this love of music with his love of travelling, recently fulfilling a life ‘bucket list’ dream by visiting Fela Kuti’s ‘New Afrika Shrine’ in Lagos, Nigeria.
